Happy Thanksgiving

I'm making the trek to Shreveport tomorrow with the girls for Thanksgiving. Borrowed a DVD player for the car from a friend. Should make the trip a little easier. We gotta get one of those.
Scott is having Thanksgiving tomorrow in Afghanistan. Should be interesting.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Count your blessings.

the Ashland, almost home. Posted by Hello

My Southern Home

Well, we're building a house, it's official. The plans and our neighborhood is on southerhomes.com, Tallow Creek, the Ashland is our house.
I signed the contract today, picked out colors and stuff with the help of my fab MIL and they start building next month. Should be ready late March or early April. I picked a purty brick and nifty countertops and flooring and all. Scott is the best for trusting me to do all this with him away. I have a terrific family.
I other news, Molly is in Lafayette at her Aunt Amy's house. She couldn't care less about me. She waved bye to me while looking straight ahead at the road. She's having a blast. Katie doesn't understand where Molly is -- I can tell. She went in Molly's room and looked up at her bed, like "where'd she go?" Last night she started dancing and holding her index finger in the air. She did it at the model home today and GiGi got to see. Too funny.
I'm posting a pic of the model finished house. It's not the same brick or anything, but will give an idea, you know.

'tis the season to be shopping

Man, I got all my kid Christmas shopping done today. I am so done. Now I just have adults (and a couple outfits to order online for Molly and Katie, but I dont' count that, since it's online). This is a nice feeling, it's the middle of November and no more toys to buy.

Give us some candy Posted by Hello

More Halloween

Trick or Treating was really funny. The girls were too much. Molly insisted I refer to her as Ariel and Katie just wanted candy. Molly would walk up to me from the house she just went to and say "let's go the next house and get more candy! I want all the candy." She could barely lift her Hello Kitty treat back when we got back to the house.
Back at the ranch, our trick or treaters were snotty. I gave pencils and candy this year. I put a pencil and a candy in each bag and one kid saw the pencil and said "what, no candy?" I was like, hold up, devil girl (she was dressed as a devil girl) I gave you M&Ms!
Here I go to rest up. Trick or Treating takes a lot out of you when you're 30.

Punkin' girls Posted by Hello

Happy Halloween

Weird that Halloween falls on a Sunday. Gotta go to the church this morning and trick or treat tonight. Molly's Ariel and Katie's a ballerina. Whenever Molly has been less than good this weekend, I've threatened, "you want to trick or treat, don't you?" and suddenly she's an angel.
We carved our everlasting pumpkin and I only managed to knick myself twice. I don't think I ever did that on a real pumpkin. The people down here are really into Halloween. The people at the top of my street have a headstone in the yard and the limbs of a skeleton (and the skull) coming up out of the ground like he's trying to escape the grave. It's creepy. We're just going to hit a few houses tonight, 'cause I know Ariel will get scared. I'm off to have my morning coffee, er witches brew.

Scott in Karshi

Well, Scott made it to Karshi, Uzbekistan. Thank the Lord. Next week he goes to Afghanistan on a Sesna. I'm just so thankful that he's safe. Hope it's not like Fear Factor and they have to eat scorpions over there. There's lots of those things in the Middle East. Yikes.

Nemo found

I bought Molly Finding Nemo cereal, thinking because she loves the movie and talks about the commercial for it all the time, I figured she's eat the cereal. So, she asked for it when she saw the box and I poured it and she sat at the table looking at it. I asked if she was going to eat it and she said "I just want to watch Nemo swim in the milk." After a few minutes I said you really should eat the cereal and she said "Fish are friends not food!" The girl is too much.
My hair is semi-normal now. A little too red, but it should tone down in a week or so. Bye, bye pink/blonde tresses, hello Molly Ringwald.

This is not Rich Copper! Posted by Hello

Color my world

So, in an attempt to save time, I bought a home highlighting kit that appeared to be the same color as my highlights I had in Canada and saw in Parents magazine. I put the kids to bed last night and followed the directions exactly and apparently the color bled onto most of the top of my head and it's horrible and blonde and pinkish. The soonest I can get in with a color specialist is Thursday morning.

I promise to never color my hair at home again. You'd think I would have learned from when I dyed it black for Halloween in high school and it was supposed to wash out, but never did. Or when I colored it red after Molly was born and looked like Ronald McDonald. What was I thinking? I know my hair will never be red like it used to be before the girls were born, but I need to leave the coloring to the professionals. I need professional help. In more ways than one, I'm sure people would say. I'm putting up a pic, don't worrry, it's worse than the small area I photographed.

New car woes

Of all the dumb things. Thursday I filled up the tank and sometime over the weekend I noticed the engine light on. Took the Town and Country (it's a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, ha ha) in and turns out the gas cap wasn't tightened tight enough. Good grief. What's the point of the fancy computerized car stuff if the engine light goes on because of the gas cap?! Dumb technology.

Baby Shelby's birthday

Baby Shelby Madeline Core was born this afternoon to my best friend, Kim and her husband, David. She's a beautiful baby and has her daddy's dimples and her mom's dark hair. God has truly blessed them.
GiGi babysat my girls tonight and Molly got out of bed when I got home to tell me she had a bath and all. I came home to a clean house, courtesy of my MIL. I can't tell you how nice it is to have things clean after dealing with a sick baby the past few days.
Here I go to bed. Looking forward seeing if I win my Ebay items in the next couple of days. I love Ebay.

Attack of the killer molars

So, all the probems I've had with Katie this week have been because of the eruption of her first molars. I brought her to the pediatrician yesterday for the intestional stuff and the doc just said to continue the BRAT diet. Little do they know -- kidding. Anyway, so I noticed 3 of the first molars have erupted during her bath last night. That explains a lot. Also further shows the difference of my two girls. Molly was cranky and couldn't sleep when her teeth came in, but it was just the front teeth -- we didn't even notice a change when she got her molars. Katie is so much more sensitive, it's crazy.
Molly has a half-day of school today, which means I pick her up at 12. Her usual dismissal is 1 pm. How on Earth is noon a half-day? Whatever.
Here I go to organize the bedroom of chaos. Hope I don't get lost in there.

What's with all the retro toys?

So, Molly has been talking about getting a pink Care Bear with a rainbow on it for 2 days. I'm sure Santa will bring it with whatever else she dreams up before Christmas. Question is -- why are all these retro toys (toys from my sister's era) making a comeback. I was past the Care Bear and Rainbow Brite targeted age group when they were out the first time. Unfortunately, my first born is almost 4 and fascinated by it all. Cabbage Patch Kids are back, so is My Little Pony. I was into Barbie, I didn't care about the trendy toys. Barbie was and is great. Care Bears come in sherbet colors and some glow in the dark. They have names like Care-a-lot and Cheer Bear. I'm just glad Molly's not into Beanie Babies. Not yet anyway.

Don't let the sun go down on me

The sun is finally out. Hope the soggy mess that is our yard dries out before it rains again.
So, I have to go to Walmart today. I haven't been in probably 4 months, which is awesome. If we had a Super Target I would go there, but alas, we have plain ole regular Target, but at least it has a Starbucks, even if they couldn't make me a Frappacino last time because they were out of ice. I loathe Walmart and hope I don't have an anxiety attack while I'm in there with Katie.
I'm posting pics from our trip to the Aquarium of the Americas from Saturday. Hope ya like them.

Rainy Days

It's been raining for 3 days, I think and Scott left for Houston today. He should be landing right now. I'm too tired to think, so this will suffice for now.
